Over the past decade, the Taiwanese government has encouraged high school students to broaden their global perspectives and create opportunities to experience different cultures. While some students are able to travel abroad, not all families can afford the cost. That’s why the Taiwan International Youth Exchange Association (TIYEA) has decided to invite a small group of students from the United States to participate in service projects in Taiwan.
These programs offers Taiwanese high school students the chance to experience Western culture, improve their English skills, and build friendships with American peers—without the high costs of overseas travel. At the same time, it allows American students to explore a new culture and lifestyle, connect with local youth, and expand their worldview.
