2023 Taiwan Service Tour
Purpose of Plan
Over a past decade, the Taiwan government has been encouraging high school students to broaden their views of what the world is, and make opportunities to experience different cultures. Some high school students do make it abroad, but not every student or their families can afford to travel overseas. Therefore, we, the Taiwan International Youth Exchange Association, have deemed it more economically sound to invite a few students from the United States to come and join in a summer camp. The summer camp will provide an opportunity to
Taiwanese high school students to experience western culture, enhance their English language skills, and make American friends without the excess need of traveling expenses. And also provide an opportunity to American students to experience a different culture and life style, make friends with the students in Taiwan, and broaden their perspective of the world.

Taiwan Service Tour
In the past 12 years, we invited 12-20 students to come and join our summer camp. The students who came enjoyed their days in Taiwan. They worked in different elementary schools and high schools. They had several service projects where they spent the days with Elementary and Junior High School students. They also made a study tour where they visited and taught in different high schools. They enjoyed the different culture, friendly people, unique food and fun places in Taiwan. All the memories will stay in their hearts for life.
活動回顧
活動日期: 2023 / 6/ 17 ~ 2023 / 7/6
After 2 years of covid-19, we finally could invite American high school students to Taiwan for service projects and visit their Taiwanese friends they met in January. This group of American high school students are from Utah, USA. They are recommended by their schools and went through an interview to be accepted to this service program. They are some of the most cheerful and bright students that we have encountered.
These students stay with host families at Zhong-He High School in New Taipei City. It is a great way to allow the American students to immerse themselves and enjoy Taiwanese culture. While they were in Taiwan, they visited high schools that visited Utah earlier this year. Many of the American students have met the Taiwanese students and some of them were buddies at school. It was fun and exciting to meet friends in another country.
The second part of their visit is to do service projects in Taiwan. The American high school students went to elementary schools and junior high schools to have three-day summer camps. These camps were to help the Taiwanese students get exposed to English and have fun while they learn. They played games, sang songs, acted and danced. It was a great experience for both sides of the students.
Besides visiting schools and working with children, TIYEA also brought them to many beautiful and iconic places in Taiwan. The American students had a great time seeing different architectures, natural scenery and trying new food. It was a great experience! They have gained many great memories and made lifelong friends on this trip.
We are grateful for these American students’ service and we hope we will see them again in Taiwan and in the States!
